What is an Enrolled Agent
An Enrolled Agent is a federally licensed tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation & is licensed by the Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all levels of the IRS for collections, audits & appeals.
An Enrolled Agent is federally licensed so they are able to represent a taxpayer in any state in the country. Only Enrolled Agents, CPAs & attorneys have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
Using an enrolled agent can save significant time and effort in tax preparation and its associated tasks. EAs advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, non-profits, and any entities with tax-reporting requirements. EAs’ continuing education requirements ensure they have the knowledge to effectively represent taxpayers before the IRS despite the continually changing tax laws.
Enrolled Agents adhere to a strict code of ethics & professional conduct mandated by Treasury Circular 230.
